The winner of the inaugural Glasgow Film Festival Margaret Tait Award has been announced as Glasgow based-artist Torsten Lauschmann. The £10,000 commission was awarded to Lauschmann allowing him to now create a new piece of work which will be exhibited at next year’s Glasgow Film Festival (17 – 27 February 2011).
The panel, composed of curators, representatives from the Scottish Arts Council, Scottish Screen and LUX (Arts Agency), artist Roddy Buchanan and members of the Glasgow Film Festival team, selected Lauschmann’s proposal from those of five shortlisted artists/artist teams.
Glasgow Film Festival established the annual Margaret Tait Award earlier this year to recognise artists who are experimental, innovative and work within film and moving image. This new Award is funded by the Scottish Arts Council and supported by Scottish Screen in partnership with LUX.
